Our tennis coaches adhere to the highest standards of coaching. Each lead coach will not only be a qualified tennis coach, but will also be first aid trained, have an enhanced DBS, hold an up to date safeguarding qualification and will be LTA accredited and insured.
All LTA accredited and accredited plus coaches are required to gain yearly CPD license points in order to keep their license status. This ensures that all our DRH coaches are continuously furthering their own learning in order to be as effective on court as possible.
Alongside the LTA courses that our coaches will attend, we also run our own DRH Sports training programmes periodically, ensuring that our coaches know how to best implement the newest coaching techniques for our players.

The most important part of everything that we do, is the people who take part in our programmes. Our inspiration comes from seeing the children and adult players progress, develop and enjoy their experience with us.
We are committed to creating an environment whereby every tennis player in our programme can achieve their goals, no matter what they are. We want our DRH players to feel that they can take their tennis to whatever level they choose. Whether they would like to play for fun, for exercise, for social play or to become a regular competition player and further, our mission is to facilitate their ambition.
Tennis is a sport that's loved the whole world over. In addition to the fact that people of all ages can play it, tennis significantly contributes to both physical and mental health. Indeed, most people assume the physical and fitness benefits, but they don't even consider the mental benefits of tennis. No matter where you play, or on what type of court - you can be sure that the sport goes a long way in keeping you in optimal health and in tiptop shape.

In all Mini tennis coaching groups, regular mid term testing will take place in order for coaches, players and parents to get an accurate idea as to the progress and standard of the players in the group. Read lessOur mission at DRH Sports is not only to help all those in our programmes to become better at whichever sport they choose, but to also become better individuals. Our 5 pillars below set out the principles that we try to impart on all the players in our coaching programmes.
Although tennis is predominantly an individual sport, it's important to promote teamwork as much as possible. We want players to feel part of something bigger than just themselves & know that not only can it be gratifying to stand with your teammates, but it's also easier to work out problems when done together. In order to progress and suceed at anything in life, you must dedicate your time, effort and energy consistently. By doing this, no matter whether it's at tennis, another sport or at school/work, you'll improve and are more likely to suceed. Dedication is arguably the most important aspect of tennis development. Fairplay is an absolute must within our DRH programmes. Whether it be with line calls, the score or a players on and off court, we strongly believe that all players should put fairplay at the forefront of their thoughts when playing the game. Click Here to find out more
Respect in tennis can come in many forms. Having respect for yourself, your opponents, your teammates, your coach and others who support you is key. We always want to promote players being humble on the court so having respect for yourself and others is an important ingredient in this process. Click Here to find out more
Leadership is an important attribute for us at DRH Sports. Although not necessarily a quality you would normally associate to tennis, becoming a capable leader allows a player’s confidence to grow alongside their ability to manage responsibilities. Click Here to find out more

Spring Term 2025
Term Starts: Monday 6th Jan
Half Term:: Our classes continue through the school half terms
Term End: Sunday 6th April
At either of the tennis clubs we run, the class structure and the way they run is the same. Each class has a colour to designate the age range (except for tots and adult classes).
Mini Reds are for players aged between 4-7, Orange is for players aged between 8-9, Greens are for players aged 9-10 and Yellow is for junior players aged 11-17.
We then have class standard levels within each colour which are Club (new to tennis or in the beginner stages and not yet able to play matches), Development (an intermediate level where the player has the ability to play matches) and Team (when the player is actively competing in competitions.
As DRH Sports is an Ofsted registered organisation, we adhere to the highest standards of practice. From our registers, to data protection, to coach training and child welfare.
Depending on the activity and the venue, you may be able to pay for your coaching course or holiday camp via Childcare Vouchers or Tax Free Childcare payments. Please check with your coaches to see if your venue and activity qualifies.
The DRH Pillars are the 5 key princples that we believe are most important when learning and playing sport. These 5 Pillars stand as the benchmark for anyone taking part in a DRH Sports activity. We firmly believe that playing sport can be one of the best ways to learn important life skills, helping young people develop the tools needed to achieve their goals and also deal with challenges. They are:
Dedication - Fairplay - Leadership - Respect - Teamwork
At DRH Sports we take safeguarding as seriously as possible and all of our coaches have undertaken extensive safeguarding training.
We ensure that every child feels safe and secure whilst in our care and every parent feels confident to leave their child with us.
We recommend that all players attending DRH tennis coaching programmes wear sports clothing and non marking trainers or tennis shoes. If you are attending a taster class then a racket can be lent to you. However we recommend that players bring their own tennis racket to each class thereafter.
Please check if your class is run indoors or outdoors so that the player can dress appropriately for the conditions. We also recommend that players bring a drinks bottle with them to each coaching class.
My son has been training with DRH (group and 1to1 lessons) for 4 years now and he always wants to go back for more. The entire team is enthusiastic, supportive and fun loving, I think all of these help the young minds learn and have fun at the same time. I have taken adult tennis lessons with DRH myself and would not hesitate to recommend that program to new and intermediate level players.
Dom and his team of coaches are amazing. Highly qualified, professional at all times, but with a personal touch. They deliver excellent coaching programs but more than that - they really care about the children as individuals. I cannot recommend DRH sport highly enough.
My son Jamal has been training and coaching tennis with the club since we moved back to Milton Keynes a couple of months ago. He absolutely loves it and says that Dom and the team have helped him get back his passion for Tennis. The guys are super professional, enthusiastic and friendly. Thanks guys ??? first class!
My 2 boys have been having tennis lessons with DRH for nearly 2 years now. They both absolutely love it! The coaching team is incredible and have the patience of saints. My 11 year old is now regularly competing at tournaments across the County and his confidence has grown so much. The team at DRH are fabulous and I can’t recommend them highly enough.
There are 4 stages in Mini Tennis. They are:
1) Mini Tots - Mini Tennis Tots is a programme specially designed for children aged three to five-years-old which enables them to learn the basics of tennis. It encourages them to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and hand-eye coordination.
2) Min Red - Mini Tennis Red is a programme for players aged eight and under. Players learn to serve, rally and score with a slow ball, as well as learning the movement and coordination skills required for tennis. Players are encouraged to take part in fun competitions, both in teams and as individuals, with short matches using tie-break scoring.
3) Min Orange - Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red, and is aimed at players aged eight and nine. Players develop a more rounded game by learning a range of techniques and tactics. Courts are bigger and wider than the red stage, but still smaller than full-size tennis courts. There are team and individual competitions with matches using tie-break scoring.
4) Min Green - Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange, and is for children aged nine and 10. Players can now put their technique and skills into practice on a full size court with a faster ball which will help to develop all aspects of their game. There are also individual and team competitions, with scoring extended to short sets.
We endeavour to progress each player in our programme at the right stage for them. If this means that they need to be moved up mid term, then we'll do this.
As a general rule of thumb, our goal is to get all CLUB group players to a stage where they can rally not only with a coach, but with another player of the same age from the back of the court. Once this is achieved, then we'll look to move the player up to the next level and will recommend competition play.
Moving up from a DEVELOPMENT to a TEAM will depend on the player's level compared to the standard of the players in the higher level group. Generally, TEAM group players are playing multiple times per week including some 1to1 lessons and some competition play.
There is no substitute for regular play. The best way to improve and progress is to play more often. Those who attend multiple coaching classes and have 1to1 lessons will improve the fastest. If you're interested in attending more than one coaching class per week, starting 1to1 lessons or have any questions about your or your child's development then please speak with your group class coach.
